This is fine.
I’m stuck in a book. Not one that I’m writing but reading. It’s an okay book. It’s not grab-you-by-the-shirt-and-shake-you-around great. It’s fine. Pleasant. But it’s not going well. I read it in the car while I was waiting my kid to come out of school. Fell asleep. I read resting on the bed on a Sunday afternoon. Fell asleep.
I find it hard to abandon a book once I’ve started it. If this was a bad book I’d give it up but it was fine! It’s hard to give up on fine. This book, though, was getting in the way of all the other books I want to read so I took a pause. Instead I read Of Mice and Men, which is (a) short and (b) grab you and shake you around fantastic. Even better, mine is Penguin Modern Classics edition which I always love to read and are one of the many book collections I have going on. Plus! It came from a street library, which is always a thrill when I find something wonderful.
Now it’s back to the sleepiest book I’ve ever encountered. Which is fine.
